Title: The Opposite of Falling
Author: Jillian Liota
Genre: Contemporary Romance
About The Opposite of Falling:
BRIAR MITCHELL is home in Cedar Point – single, broke and unemployed. Back in the town she tried so hard not to get stuck in. A job at the local grocery will have to do until she figures out what’s next, even if it means working for her teenage crush. Not that he noticed her back then.
ANDY MARSHALL has always loved the small town life. Things might be rough at the moment – the family business is struggling and his dad’s health has taken a turn – but he’s trudging forward. What he doesn’t see coming is the attraction he feels towards his newest employee.
Choosing to explore their instant chemistry, Briar and Andy embark on a no-strings ride they hope will provide a few things they each desperately need. Sweet friendship, sexy fun, and a chance to escape from a life that isn’t going according to plan.
But in the face of a town disaster, they start to realize that maybe there’s something more between them. Something with a depth they weren’t expecting. Something that feels a lot like falling in love.

My Review:
This is book 2 in Jillian Liota’s Cedar Point series. I haven’t read the first one, and like many romances of this style, that absolutely didn’t matter. (However, I will probably go back and read the first one now because I loved this one!) This was the first book I’ve read from this author, but I can tell you, it won’t be the last. This romance was both sexy and sweet, which is exactly what I’m always wanting from a book like this.
What I want is to make her feel something that’s pretty much the opposite of falling. I want to help her rise and grow and bloom. Up, up, up, as far as her dreams and plans can take her.
Andy is just the absolute sweetest and also says things that made me totally melt. I love that we get both their points of view. That is always my favorite in a romance. And Briar just has so much heart and so many relatable issues around putting herself out there and trusting others, including Andy. Their chemistry, while fast, is actually pretty believable, and will absolutely make you swoon.
I’m not dating Briar. We’re hanging out. We’re friends. We’re enjoying time together and exploring town together and sleeping together. I shake my head and let out a long sigh. It sounds like dating to me, but what the hell do I know?
Another thing I like is the side characters and events. Both Briar and Andy have a lot if other outside events going on, and those force the issue between them, but in a way that is natural and relatable. I loved reading about their families and really felt like I was right there in the small town with them. And the ending is satisfying. It’s pretty much all I could ask for in a contemporary romance! I give it a solid 4 / 5 stars.
